Boost your Immunity in easy and simple ways

Vitamin C is a well known and popular vitamin used to boost immunity and promote general health. However very little is know about an essential nutrient known as vitamin D3. A lack of vitamin D3 can cause poor general health. Vitamin D3 is essential for the proper absorbtion of calcium which is needed for the formation of strong bones. It is also very important in the synthesis of several essential hormones including insulin thyroid and parathyroid hormones.
Recent research has brought to light the astounding ability of vitamin D to boost and modulate the body's immune system. Vitamin D deficient persons are more prone to infections. They have more severe infections, as the body's immune system sometimes attack the body's healthy cells, as well as the virus or bacteria, when there is a lack of the modulating effect of vitamin D on its immune system.
The good news is that vitamin D3 can be had free by exposing a reasonable amount of the skin to sunlight for 15 to 30 minutes per day. The bad news is that humans as we get more 'civilized' we expose our selves to less and less sunlight. Fortunately vitamin D is relatively cheap and is easily available at most pharmacies and health food stores
Persons with dark skin need more exposure to the sun to get enough vitamin D. Because it is the ultra violet "UV" light that generates the formation of vitamin D in the skin. The dark pigmentation (melanin)' of black persons make it harder for the UV light to penetrate the skin for vitamin D synthesis. This is especially critical for black persons living in the northern (colder)' parts of the globe, where there is overall less sunlight, especially during the winter.
